Credits and licenses

The open projects Ledgable ships and the apps that taught it.

Ledgable is open source under the GPL, version 3, and stands on other open projects. Settings › About › Credits lists them in the app; this is the same list.

Code and models shipped inside the app

  • Seeneva by Sergei Solodovnikov — the speech-balloon detection model used by the comic reader. GPL-3.0-or-later, the same license as Ledgable, used with attribution. Ledgable uses only the balloon class of its output; the panel class is deliberately unused. github.com/Seeneva/seeneva-reader-android · seeneva.app
  • TensorFlow Lite — the runtime that runs that model, version 2.14.0 on both platforms. Apache-2.0.
  • foliate-js — the reading engine for books. github.com/johnfactotum/foliate-js

The lineage: apps that taught this one

  • toolsboox by Gabor Auth — the trunk the Android app grew from. GPL-3.0. github.com/gaborauth/toolsboox
  • Readest — note-on-the-selection, the quiet reading footer, and the standard the book reader is measured against. github.com/readest/readest
  • Capy Reader — the always-full-content lesson and the bar for a humane feed reader. github.com/jocmp/capyreader
  • Notate — draw-and-hold shape snapping: the dwell is the ask. github.com/alexdremov/notate
  • Notable — two-finger-tap undo, three-finger redo. github.com/olup/notable
  • Aragonite — the interface research that opened the firmware’s handwriting recognizer on Boox. GPL-3.0. github.com/jdkruzr/aragonite
  • Saber — folders as a lens over a flat notebook, recents always first. github.com/saber-notes/saber
  • Mihon — the chapter walk: finishing a comic offers the next. github.com/mihonapp/mihon
  • Thunderbird for Android / K-9 Mail — the measure for the mail room. github.com/thunderbird/thunderbird-android
  • WordPress for Android — the measure for the publishing doors. github.com/wordpress-mobile/WordPress-Android
  • Simplenote — the notes companion off-device. github.com/Automattic/simplenote-android
  • Miniflux — the feed server behind Incoming. github.com/miniflux/v2

Fonts

The app ships Atkinson Hyperlegible, Literata, Vollkorn, Inter, Jost and Poppins for the reader and the chrome, each under its own open font license.

Icons

The Android toolbar uses Phosphor Icons. github.com/phosphor-icons/core

Your data

None of the projects above receive anything from your device. Ledgable makes no network request unless you connect a service yourself — a sync server, a feed server, a mail account, a website, an AI provider — and then only to that service.

Supporting the original

If the Android app is useful to you, please support Tools for Boox too: github.com/gaborauth/toolsboox-android, on Google Play, Patreon or PayPal.

Thank you

Every one of these made this notebook better.
