Report a bug

What to include and where to send it.

Send a bug through the Support page on this site, with your device, your app version from Settings › About, the steps, and a screenshot. That is enough for most fixes; the rest of this page is what makes a report fast to act on.

What to include

  1. Device. iPhone, iPad or Watch model; or the e-ink tablet — Boox Go 6, Palma, Tab, Bigme, Viwoods Mini — and its firmware version if you know it.
  2. App version. Settings › About shows the version and build number. Say both.
  3. Steps. What you did, in order, from a page you can name. “Opened Notes, held the second row, chose Export, picked PDF” beats “export is broken”.
  4. What happened, and what you expected. Two sentences.
  5. A screenshot or a short screen recording. Mind what is in it — an inbox screenshot is other people’s mail.
  6. The status text, exactly, if the screen showed one: under Sync now, in the composer, in Settings › Feeds.

What not to include

  • Passwords, tokens or API keys. Never. A settings export contains them under a passphrase; do not attach it.
  • Other people’s letters or names, unless the bug is about that letter and you have blanked what you can.

Before you send

  • Check the troubleshooting articles: Something did not sync, The pen stopped drawing, Mail will not send, Feeds look empty.
  • Check the almanac strip. A “missing” list is often last week’s.
  • Close and reopen the app once. Note whether it repeats.

Where to send it

The Support page on this site. If your own site runs the support desk, a ticket opened there reaches the same place, and can be opened from something you wrote.

Crashes

If the app closed on its own, say what you were doing at the moment, and whether the device was locked or asleep.

Sync and data questions

Nothing you write is lost by a bug in a screen; the day file is written as you go. If a day looks wrong, say which day and which device, and whether the other device shows the same. Do not delete anything before writing in.

Feature requests

Welcome on the same page. Say what you were trying to do, not only what you want built.

What happens next

Bugs are fixed in the field loop: a report, a build, a check on the device. Test builds go out through TestFlight on Apple and as a new APK on Android; see the install articles.
