Run your own ledger and share

Feeds, webmentions, neighbours and the directory: how self-hosted ledgers find each other, with ledgable.cc as the first hub.

You do not have to use this site’s community. The plugin gives every ledger its own feed, webmentions in and out, and a profile it can list in a directory, so self-hosted ledgers find and answer each other with no platform in the middle.

Boox Go 6 Your ledger's posts, which the network module also publishes as a feed.

What the network module does

  • Feeds. Your ledger publishes JSON Feed and RSS at /ledger/feed.json and /ledger/feed.xml. Anyone with a reader, including the Ledgable app, can follow it.
  • Webmentions. When an entry of yours links to someone else’s, your site tells theirs. When someone links to you, their mention arrives as a comment for you to moderate, and it shows up in the Correspondence room of the app.
  • Neighbours. Follow other ledgers by feed URL. They arrive as one river, in the order they were written. Nothing is ranked.
  • A directory. Your ledger declares, in its own profile, which directories it belongs to. A directory is another Ledgable site with hub mode on. ledgable.cc is the first hub. Leaving is unilateral: remove the hub from your profile and the listing is gone on the next check.
  • Bluesky. Optionally, entries you mark public are syndicated to Bluesky, with a link back to your site.

Turn it on

  1. In WordPress, open Ledgable → Integrations and enable Network. It is off on a fresh install because its whole purpose is outbound traffic.
  2. Under Network, set the visibility default and ceiling. Nothing travels past the ceiling; a per-entry setting can only narrow, never widen.
  3. Under Directory, tick listed, name your ledger, add a line about it, and add https://ledgable.cc as a hub. The hub fetches your profile, confirms it names the hub, and lists you.
  4. Want to be a hub yourself? Enable hub in the same panel. Now other ledgers can list themselves with you, and this site can list itself with you.

Sharing back

The plugin, the apps, and the look of this site are all downloadable from the Download page. If you improve any of them, the community’s WordPress & the open network room is where to say so.
